HUA HIN, Thailand — A light aircraft veered off the runway and crashed into the sea off the coast of Hua Hin in the morning hours of April 25, 2025, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and leaving one person injured, according to emergency response officials.
The incident occurred at approximately 08:30 local time when the aircraft reportedly lost control during takeoff at Hua Hin Airport and ended up plunging into the sea. The crash site was identified about 100 meters off the shore near the Baby Grand Resort in Cha-am district, Phetchaburi province.
Emergency services were alerted at 08:15 through the 191 emergency hotline by a civilian witness who observed the aircraft crash into the water. Police from the Phetchaburi Provincial Station responded promptly and began coordinating with rescue and maritime units to reach the site.
Efforts to assist were complicated by the aircraft’s location in the sea, which posed logistical challenges for emergency crews. The names and identities of the victims have not yet been released. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the incident and assess the condition of the sole survivor, who was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Officials from the local government and aviation authorities are on site and have begun working with rescue teams to secure the area and gather further information. More updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
