Highway Police Arrest Suspect After 100-Kilometer Chase

Chonburi, Thailand — On January 2, 2025, Thai Highway Police engaged in a dramatic 100-kilometer car chase, ending in the arrest of a suspect accused of stealing a pickup truck. The pursuit started on Motorway Route 7 near kilometer marker 24+900 and concluded when the stolen vehicle overturned along Route 36 in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

Dashcam footage from a highway patrol vehicle captured the moment the suspect seized the pickup truck. The incident began on Motorway Route 7 in the Lat Krabang area, where the suspect forcibly took the vehicle after a struggle with its owner. The truck owner attempted to fend off the suspect using a long wooden stick but was ultimately unsuccessful in preventing the theft. The suspect fled the scene, heading toward Chonburi.

During the pursuit, the stolen vehicle suffered a tire blowout near Pattaya City, causing sparks as its wheel rims scraped the road surface. Moments later, the truck collided with a roadside barrier, rendering it inoperable. Authorities apprehended the suspect, identified as Marcus Nils Jin Sub Blomberg, a 29-year-old Swedish national.

Police have charged Blomberg with nighttime theft, property damage, and illegal entry into Thailand. He is currently in custody at Bang Sao Thong Police Station in Samut Prakan Province, where legal proceedings are underway.
