BANGKOK, July 15, 2024 – Khlong Tan District Police have apprehended five foreign nationals, including a woman, for their alleged involvement in the robbery and assault of a British national. The incident took place in an apartment in the Khlong Tan area of Bangkok.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Dane Abdullahi Ahmed Saney Mohamed, British nationals Shafiq Sumya, Ahmed Saeed Yasin, and Hussein Mohamed Hassan Sheekh. The identity and nationality of the woman remain undisclosed at this time.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim, a British cryptocurrency trader, who reported to the police that he had been assaulted and robbed by the group. According to the victim, he had been partying with the suspects before they tied him up, beat him, and demanded assets.
Upon searching the apartment where the suspects were apprehended, police recovered two mobile phones, two luxury wristwatches, a credit card, and 24,000 baht in cash. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be over 3 million baht.
The police investigation is ongoing to gather more details about the incident and to determine the involvement of each suspect. Authorities are also working to establish the identity of the unknown woman involved in the case.
Officials have praised the quick action of the police in apprehending the suspects and securing the stolen items. The incident underscores the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting of crimes to the authorities.
