Search Intensifies for Missing Tourist in Phu Soi Dao Park

A coordinated search effort is underway in Phu Soi Dao National Park, Uttaradit, for a missing tourist who vanished last week. Park rangers, soldiers, police, and volunteers are braving heavy rains in their quest to locate 27-year-old Thanwarich Mateema, who was last seen in the park’s Nam Pad district on Thursday.

The search team, which initially comprised around 50 individuals, was expanded to 100 on Monday, according to the Public Relations Department. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the searchers have only found a backpack and a pair of shoes on a steep trail, apparently abandoned by the solo trekker.

Mr. Thanwarich, a resident of Maha Sarakham, visited the park last Thursday. Park officials noticed his absence when he failed to register at the office at the end of the mountainous trail after entering the park.

His concerned parents and family members have traveled from the northeastern province to the park, where they continue to pray for his safe return and the success of the search and rescue team.
