Tragic Thonglor Murder: 19-Year-Old Son Arrested for Allegedly Killing Father with Hammer

In a grim turn of events, a violent incident has sent shockwaves through the Thonglor community in Phra Khanong, Bangkok, as a 19-year-old half-Thai man stands accused of killing his French father using a hammer. The tragic Thonglor murder unfolded in a condominium within the Phra Khanong district, a somber reminder of the fragility of human relationships.

Deputy Investigation Officer Sirichai Kaewprasit of Khlong Tan Police Station swiftly responded to the distressing report of the murder, which took place in a townhome on Soi Pridi Banomyong 13 in Phra Khanong, Watthana. Collaborating closely with forensic experts from the Police Hospital, Officer Kaewprasit meticulously examined the crime scene and initiated a thorough investigation.

The setting of this heart-wrenching crime was a three-story townhouse, and the downstairs living room bore witness to the gruesome aftermath. Here, the lifeless body of a 52-year-old French national lay, marked by severe head injuries seemingly inflicted by a metal hammer that lay ominously on the floor.

Neighbours recounted hearing a heated altercation between the deceased man and his son that persisted for approximately 15 minutes on an unspecified date in recent times. Subsequently, an eerie silence fell over the house, shrouding it in darkness. It was noted that the son, who typically parked his motorcycle in front of the residence, had chosen a different location for his vehicle on that fateful day.

Adding a layer of complexity to this tragedy, the deceased’s wife revealed that the family had once cohabited in the same dwelling. However, due to the father’s persistent struggle with alcohol consumption, she and her son had taken the difficult decision to move out. Their attempts to distance themselves from the turmoil were driven by the frequent arguments and conflicts between father and son, with the latter exhibiting signs of mental instability and a propensity for violence.

In the wake of this harrowing incident, Deputy Director of Khlong Tan Police Station, Prasert Chanaksorn, spearheaded the law enforcement efforts that culminated in the arrest of the 19-year-old son, identified as Paul, at a condominium in Thonglor. Incriminating evidence in the form of bloodstained shoes was discovered at the crime scene, further cementing the case against the accused. Preliminary investigations indicate that Paul, following a heated argument, resorted to the hammer as a weapon against his own father, a chilling revelation reported by KhaoSod.

Furthermore, it has come to light that rescue workers had previously visited the crime scene on two occasions. First, to offer assistance to Paul for his mental health concerns, and later, in response to a motorcycle-taxi collision. In both instances, Paul had adamantly declined help. In the wake of this devastating Thonglor murder, authorities are now committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation and pursuing legal proceedings, seeking to unravel the complexities surrounding this deeply unsettling incident that has left the community in mourning.
