For the last year, the Ministries of Education and Labor have worked together to establish school curriculum that match to labor market demands. In addition, the two ministries developed an online network to connect recent graduates with companies in order to increase job placement chances and the possibility that employers will find individuals whose talents fit their needs.
The ministries revealed the outcomes of their cooperation effort to enhance education and job opportunities for students and employees at all levels. On January 19, 2022, the two agencies signed a memorandum of cooperation for the development of student work capacities and labor force members at all levels.
The initiative intended to develop knowledge, capacities, and skills in accordance with national labor skill requirements in order to better respond to market needs and alleviate labor shortages in the business sector.
As part of the partnership, the two ministries created the Thai Mi Ngan Tham big data platform, which uses data on students, available positions, and labor demand at employers. The Ministry of Education has been creating instructors and curriculum in response to labor market demands, while also collaborating with employers to use the latter as job training venues. Labor skill evaluations were also conducted.
The platform already includes information on around 600,000 pupils, and the initiative has been trialled in four provinces: Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Ayutthaya, and Bangkok.
